India Energy Week 2026 Inaugurated at ONGC Betul, Goa

Clean Energy to Be the Core of India’s Sustainable Growth: Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Panaji| Strengthening India’s commitment towards a clean and sustainable energy future, the India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 was inaugurated at ONGC Betul in South Goa. The four-day international event is being organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, focusing on energy transition, energy security, technological innovation, and sustainable economic growth.

Addressing the inaugural session virtually, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that clean and renewable energy will be the backbone of India’s long-term development. He said that India Energy Week has emerged as a powerful global platform showcasing India’s leadership in sustainability, innovation, and energy security.

The event has attracted over 75,000 energy professionals, 700 exhibitors, 11 thematic zones, and pavilions from more than nine countries, making IEW one of the largest global energy conferences. The programme includes high-level conferences, technology exhibitions, and strategic networking sessions over four days.

Speaking on the occasion, Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant emphasised that a reliable, affordable, and resilient energy system is crucial for achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat. He announced that Goa has finalised a Clean Energy Roadmap to transition towards 100% renewable energy by 2050, aligning fully with national sustainability goals.

Dr. Sawant highlighted that India Energy Week 2026 will significantly boost tourism, support local entrepreneurs, and generate employment, thereby contributing directly to regional development. He added that as a coastal state, Goa remains committed to promoting both the Green and Blue Economy, positioning itself as a global hub for sustainable development dialogue.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Group CEO Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Canada’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Timothy Hodgson, along with representatives from over 120 countries and more than 550 global speakers.
