Middle East | Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply as Donald Trump issued a stark warning that large-scale bombings could resume against Iran if a peace agreement is not reached by Wednesday evening.

A 39-day ceasefire, which came into effect on April 8, is set to expire this Wednesday. Speaking to PBS News, Trump made it clear that failure to secure a deal would lead to renewed military action. In a separate interview with Bloomberg, he downplayed any possibility of extending the ceasefire, emphasizing that the core issue remains Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

According to Trump, the United States will not tolerate Iran possessing nuclear weapons under any circumstances, making it the central sticking point in ongoing tensions involving Israel and the U.S.

As diplomatic efforts intensify, a high-level U.S. delegation is set to travel to Islamabad for a second round of talks. The delegation will reportedly be led by J. D. Vance and include key figures such as Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the development, highlighting the urgency of diplomatic engagement before the ceasefire deadline.

However, signals from Iran remain mixed. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that there are currently no plans for talks with the U.S. Reacting to this, Trump noted that while Iranian officials were expected to participate, their absence would not alter America’s position.

With the ceasefire deadline fast approaching, the situation remains highly volatile, raising global concerns over the possibility of renewed conflict in the region.
