Rs 426 Crore Sanctioned for Roads Within Hinjewadi; Information shared by Collector Jitendra Dudi
Pune | Funds worth Rs 426 crore have been sanctioned for the development of roads within the Hinjewadi IT Park area, with instructions issued to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to take the lead role in resolving traffic congestion at bottleneck points. The directive was given by Collector Jitendra Dudi on Friday.
The first meeting of a high-level committee formed to address issues of traffic congestion, poor condition of internal roads, metro connectivity, public transport, water supply and other basic infrastructure in the Hinjewadi area was held at the Collector’s office on Friday. MLA Shankar Mandekar, Babaji Kale, Additional Collector Satish Raut, Resident Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam, and Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Department Deputy Commissioner Vikrant Deshmukh were present.

19.1 km – Roads proposed under “Last Mile Connectivity”
7.225 km – Roads within the PMRDA area
11.974 km – Roads within the MIDC area
Officials noted that merely repairing roads would not suffice; priority must be given to developing an integrated transport system that coordinates the metro, public transport, pedestrians, cyclists and last-mile connectivity. The proposal discussed at the meeting focused on building connecting roads and diverse transport facilities so that citizens can travel safely and conveniently from metro stations to IT companies, residential societies, and surrounding villages.
Around 19.1 km of last-mile connectivity roads have been proposed to link Hinjewadi’s metro stations with the surrounding area, and separate facilities will be created for pedestrians and cyclists, Dudi said.

Efforts Underway for Mulshi Dam Water Supply
To address the water supply problem in the Hinjewadi area, discussions have begun with Tata Company regarding making water from the Mulshi dam available. Officials noted that given the rising population in the IT park and surrounding areas, long-term planning for future water supply needs is essential.
