Monsoon Health: Want to Avoid Hospital Visits During the Rains? Remember These Doctor-Approved Tips!
Monsoon Health: The rainy season often brings with it a rise in illnesses. That’s why it’s essential to take proper care of your health during this time.

Pune | The monsoon season brings lush greenery, cool weather, and a holiday-like vibe. But alongside this joy, the season also sees a spike in various health issues. In particular, problems like vomiting and headaches become more common. High humidity, contaminated food and water, and frequent changes in weather reduce the body’s immunity, increasing the chances of infections.
So how can we protect our health during the monsoon? Dr. Smita Sangade, a health expert from Pune, shares her tips.
🚫 Avoid Outside Food
Dr. Smita Sangade explains that stomach-related issues are more prevalent during the monsoon. Eating contaminated water or street food can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, and fever.
To prevent such illnesses:
-
Drink boiled and cooled, clean water.
-
Avoid eating outside food as much as possible.
To avoid vomiting and headaches, make sure that food is prepared in hygienic and safe environments. Also, wash your hands thoroughly before eating. Special care must be taken for children and the elderly, as they are more vulnerable during this season.
🧴 Skin Infections – A Common Risk
If you get wet in the rain, change out of wet clothes immediately and dry your body thoroughly. Otherwise, skin diseases, infections, and even headaches can occur.
Always carry an umbrella or raincoat when stepping out, and wear warm clothing if needed.
😴 Sleep & Exercise Are Essential
To maintain a strong immune system:
-
Eat a nutritious diet
-
Drink plenty of water
-
Get adequate sleep
-
Exercise regularly
If symptoms feel serious, do not delay seeking medical advice.
“Enjoy the monsoon, but make sure your health doesn’t get neglected in the process,” advises Dr. Sangade.
