Pune | In a remarkable display of swift emergency response, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Fire Brigade and the Pune Disaster Response Force (PDRF) carried out large-scale rescue operations across the Pune Metropolitan Region following intense rainfall and multiple incidents of landslides and flooding.

Officials described the teams as “angels in action,” as they worked round the clock in hazardous conditions, successfully saving hundreds of lives across multiple locations including Lonavala, Maval, Alandi, and Dhayari.

Major Rescue Operations Across PMRDA Jurisdiction

In the aftermath of heavy downpours, landslides struck parts of Maval and Lonavala, triggering emergency response operations. In Patan (Lonavala), a landslide on the Patan-Boraj road led to the rescue of three persons, including a woman, after a detailed search operation through debris.

At Malavali, nearly 25–30 citizens were stranded due to another landslide, prompting immediate deployment of control room teams. Similarly, at Aapti village near Pavana Lake, around 25–30 citizens were safely evacuated by emergency responders.

Mass Evacuations and Flood Rescue Efforts

  • Alandi (Centre Maharaj Math): Rising river water trapped police personnel and civilians; 20 police personnel and 4 civilians were safely rescued.
  • Lonavala (Vedant Academy): 25 citizens were evacuated safely from flooded premises.
  • Wagholi & Chakan-Chimbali region: Workers stranded in industrial premises due to flooding were safely rescued.

Continuous Operations in Lonavala Region

Even as rescue operations continue, three PDRF teams remain stationed in Lonavala to respond to any further emergencies. Officials confirmed that monitoring is ongoing and teams are on high alert.

Critical Life-Saving Interventions
