NASA has successfully launched its ambitious Artemis 2 mission, sending four astronauts on a historic journey around the Moon. The launch took place at 4:05 AM IST on Thursday from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, aboard the powerful Space Launch System (SLS) rocket.

This marks the first human voyage toward the Moon in over 50 years, following the iconic Apollo missions of the 1960s and 1970s, which saw 12 astronauts set foot on the lunar surface. While astronauts have traveled in space since, this mission represents the farthest journey from Earth in decades.

The Artemis 2 crew includes NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, along with Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen. Notably, Christina Koch will become the first woman to fly around the Moon, making this mission a landmark in space history.

The mission is expected to take approximately three to four days to reach the Moon, with a total duration of about 10 days. Its primary goal is to test critical technologies for future human lunar landings and pave the way for advanced space exploration.

NASA’s Artemis 2 mission is a giant leap forward for humanity, ushering in a new era of lunar exploration, astronaut milestones, and interplanetary research.
