The protest gained significant momentum after Monday’s march towards Parliament witnessed clashes between protesters and police, with allegations of lathi-charge and the use of tear gas triggering widespread reactions across the country.
Taking to Instagram, Alia Bhatt expressed solidarity with the protesting students, saying their movement represents far more than a personal struggle.
“For the past few days, my heart has been heavy, but I have also seen rays of hope. Every student standing firmly today is not fighting only for themselves but for their dreams, their families’ hopes, and the countless sacrifices made for their future. Their struggle is an effort to build a better future for the next generation of students,” she wrote.

Alia further praised the courage displayed by young protesters and raised a question that has sparked widespread discussion on social media.
“The courage and determination of these young people inspire me. Their fight holds a mirror to all of us and asks one important question — Are we truly listening to the voice of the generation that will shape India’s future? This fight belongs to the students, it is for the students, and the future belongs to them,” she added.
Her remarks have added to the growing support from members of the film industry, many of whom have urged authorities to listen to students’ demands and ensure peaceful handling of demonstrations.
Salman Khan Also Extends Support
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan also voiced support for the student movement, praising the determination of young protesters and the backing they have received from their parents.
“It is encouraging to see students coming together for a better education system with the support of their parents. I admire their honesty, dedication, and determination to build a stronger and more educated India. This issue concerns students and the education system and should not be politicised. The credit belongs entirely to the students, and I believe the government will support them and strengthen the education system,” Salman said.
