According to the official circular issued by Deputy Director Devidas Kulal, all students enrolled in government schools must undergo screening through the app by the first week of September.
PRASHAST App 2.0 has been developed as a Pre-Assessment Holistic Screening Tool to help schools identify children who may require additional educational support at an early stage. The application has now been integrated with the UDISE+ system in line with guidelines issued by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India.
The integration will enable schools to access information related to students, teachers, headmasters, and special educators on a single digital platform. It will also facilitate automatic student data mapping, role-based access, task allocation, and effective monitoring of the screening process.
The app is designed to conduct preliminary screening for symptoms associated with the 21 categories of disabilities notified under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016. Officials believe that early identification will help schools plan timely interventions and strengthen inclusive education for children requiring additional support.
Implementation Timeline:
-
June to August: Training for teachers and headmasters, along with preliminary observation of students.
-
June to July: Activation of login credentials for headmasters.
-
August: Integration of class teachers and special educators into the app.
-
September: Class teachers to complete 100% screening of all enrolled students.
-
October: Special educators to conduct the second-stage assessment of identified students.
The state government expects the digital initiative to improve the early detection of learning and developmental challenges while ensuring that eligible students receive appropriate educational assistance at the earliest stage.
