Nashik:
To promote environmental awareness among youth, a botanical study tour was organised at the Tapovan area under the initiative of Parida Foundation. The objective was to help students experience biodiversity conservation and ecological importance through direct field observations.

During the nature walk, botany experts guided students on topics such as the local food chain, ecological significance of native tree species, and the impact of rapid urban development on natural ecosystems.

60+ Native Tree Species Documented

Students conducted hands-on study and identification of more than 60 native tree species present in the Tapovan region. They documented species status, ecological roles, and their relevance to Nashik’s natural heritage. A brief scientific report was also prepared based on these field observations.

Experts discussed the vital importance of old and culturally significant species like banyan, fig (umber), and tamarind, which form the backbone of Nashik’s ecological chain. They also highlighted the long-term negative effects of tree cutting, especially due to Kumbh Mela preparations and urban development projects.
