Society Residents Take a Firm Stand: “No Water, No Entry for Campaigning!”
Mission Municipal Elections: Aggressive Stand by Lotus Nandanvan Society, Threat of 'Handa Morcha'
Pimpri-Chinchwad : With a direct warning, “No water, no entry for political campaigning!”, the residents of Lotus Nandanvan Society in Moshi have announced a call for protest. Despite the ongoing heavy rainfall, residents are forced to purchase water daily through four to five private tankers. This has been their reality for the past five years, and now their patience has reached a breaking point.
Repeated complaints to the water supply department of the Municipal Corporation have yielded no results. Due to the careless, unplanned, and indifferent administration of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, even the basic needs of citizens are being neglected.
To review the water supply situation, Mr. Sanjeevan Sangle, President of the Housing Societies Federation, personally brought Junior Engineer Mr. Chetan Devre from the Municipal Corporation to the society to witness the ground reality. After inspection, Mr. Devre assured that, “Water will be supplied as per norms within two to three days.” However, due to repeated unfulfilled promises in the past, the residents are now furious.
“Dams are full, rainfall is ongoing, yet we don’t have water? What kind of smart city model is this?” questioned the angry residents.
No Water, No Politicians!
The residents of Lotus Nandanvan Society have clearly declared that, “If water supply is not restored within the next four to five days, no political party or leader will be allowed to enter the society for election campaigning.”
This decision was taken in a collective meeting and has the full support of the entire society.

Warning of ‘Handa Morcha’…
Under the leadership of the Chikhli-Moshi-Charholi-Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation, a warning has been issued to launch a Handa Morcha (empty pot protest) against the Municipal Corporation if the water supply is not restored. Women will play a prominent role in this protest, and thousands of residents are expected to participate.
“Even though Pimpri-Chinchwad is promoted as a Smart City, it is unfortunate that residents in some areas still have to buy water during the monsoon. If the water supply is not streamlined, we will carry out the Handa Morcha, and no political leader will be allowed to step into the society during the elections.”
– Sanjeevan Sangle, President, Chikhli-Moshi Housing Societies Federation.
We support the actions of Moshi -Chikhali Federation.
At the same time we also suggest societies that they should also avail of benefits of Divisional Level Committee formed in terms of directives of Hon. High Court in the PIL jointly filed by the 11 NGOs for resolution of water issues. These directives are applicable to entire Pune district.
– Sachin Londhe, Vice Chairman, Pimpri Chinchwad Hsg. Sty. Federation.
