Industry Leader Dr. Pramod Chaudhari Awarded Honorary Doctorate by D. Y. Patil International University, Akurdi
Pune : D. Y. Patil International University (DYPIU), Pune, organized a Special Convocation Ceremony to confer the prestigious Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) upon eminent industrialist and visionary leader Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, Founder Chairman and Mentor of Praj Industries.
Dr. Chaudhari’s contributions to innovation, sustainable development, and global leadership in bioenergy and agri-processing technologies has been exemplary.
While delivering his acceptance speech, Dr. Chaudhari emphasized the critical need to foster a strong culture of entrepreneurship in India. Reflecting on his own journey, he shared that in 1983, during the early days of establishing Praj, he personally approached bank managers to explain the concept of venture capital—an idea that was relatively unfamiliar at the time. His experience underscored the importance of resilience, vision, and belief in innovation.
He also highlighted the significance of implementing the National Education Policy 2020 in its true spirit, stressing that education must go beyond theoretical knowledge to nurture creativity, critical thinking, and entrepreneurial capabilities among students.
Further, Dr. Chaudhari underscored the importance of collaboration with reputed institutions and experienced professionals, noting that their association with universities can significantly broaden students’ career perspectives and contribute to holistic academic development.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Manish Bhalla, reiterated the university’s commitment to academic excellence and industry engagement. The ceremony reflected DYPIU’s vision of bridging academia and industry while celebrating leaders who have made transformative contributions to society.
The ceremony witnessed the gracious presence of senior academic leaders, Deans, Directors, faculty members, and distinguished guests. The event commenced with traditional rituals, including Ganapati Pujan, followed by felicitation and formal academic proceedings.
