London: The India Women’s Cricket Team scripted history by defeating England Women by 2 runs in the one-off Test at Lord’s, registering the first-ever women’s Test victory at the iconic venue in its 142-year history.

India dominated key phases of the match and held their nerve on the fourth day to seal a memorable win, adding another landmark achievement to Indian women’s cricket.

The visitors posted 285 runs in their first innings, with Smriti Mandhana top-scoring with 83, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 58 and Deepti Sharma added 57. England were then bowled out for 170, handing India a valuable 115-run first-innings lead.

Young pacer Kranti Gaud starred with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for 37 runs, while Sayali Satghare and Sneh Rana picked up two wickets each to put India firmly in control.

In the second innings, Yastika Bhatia produced a magnificent 113 off 158 balls, while Mandhana continued her impressive form with 70 runsRicha Ghosh added a quick-fire 50 off 52 deliveries, helping India declare at 341/7 and set England a daunting target of 457 runs.

England’s batting line-up struggled under pressure as India’s disciplined bowling attack removed the top five batters cheaply. Despite fighting half-centuries from Amy Jones and Sophie Ecclestone, along with Maddy Villiers’ 26, England were bowled out for 186, falling just two runs short of victory.

India’s bowlers once again delivered under pressure. Sneh Rana claimed four wickets in the second innings, while Kranti Gaud, Sayali Satghare, and Deepti Sharma took two wickets each to complete the historic triumph.

The memorable victory was witnessed by cricket legends and dignitaries, including Sachin TendulkarICC Chairman Jay Shah, and BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, who were present at Lord’s to celebrate India’s remarkable achievement.

This landmark win establishes India as the first women’s team in history to win a Test match at Lord’s, widely regarded as the “Home of Cricket.”
