According to the airline, the price hike will affect both domestic and international travel. Passengers will have to pay higher fares due to the sharp increase in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) costs. Air India has stated that the fare revision will be implemented in three phases.

As per the information released by the company, the fuel supply in the Gulf region has been disrupted since early March 2026, leading to a significant increase in aviation fuel prices. This has increased operational costs for airlines, forcing them to revise ticket fares.

Three-phase fare hike:
Phase 1: For bookings made from March 12, passengers traveling on domestic routes and to SAARC countries will have to pay an additional ₹399. The SAARC countries include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
