Prime Minister Modi’s Office Gets a New Address from Today
PMO Shifts from South Block to ‘Seva Teerth’ Complex under Central Vista Project

New Delhi | Correspondent
On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, the office of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially shifted from the historic South Block to a newly constructed complex named ‘Seva Teerth’, located on Dara Shikoh Road in New Delhi. This relocation marks a significant milestone in the Central Vista Redevelopment Project, aimed at modernising India’s central administrative infrastructure.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), which had been functioning from the South Block since India’s independence in 1947, will now operate from the Central Vista campus, making Seva Teerth the new nerve centre of the country’s top executive offices.
About the Seva Teerth Complex
The Seva Teerth Complex has been constructed at an estimated cost of ₹1,189 crore and spans approximately 2.26 lakh square feet. The complex consists of three separate buildings, each serving a distinct administrative purpose:
-
Seva Teerth–1: Houses the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO)
-
Seva Teerth–2: New headquarters of the Cabinet Secretariat, shifted in December 2025
-
Seva Teerth–3: Offices of the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) and the National Security Advisor (NSA)
Modern Design with Cultural Essence
The new PMO has been designed on an “open floor” model, replacing the closed, high-walled layout of the South Block. The workspaces are modern, functional, and minimalist. The Prime Minister’s private and formal chambers have been upgraded to host meetings with foreign heads of state and international delegations.
The building reflects India’s 5,000-year-old cultural heritage, blending traditional aesthetics with contemporary architecture.
Advanced Security and Facilities
A state-of-the-art conference facility named ‘India House’ has been built within the Seva Teerth complex to host high-level bilateral meetings, press conferences, and international summits.
Key features include:
-
Advanced cyber security systems
-
Encrypted communication lines
-
Comprehensive multi-layered security arrangements
-
Earthquake-resistant structure, designed to withstand high-intensity tremors
Historic Blocks to Become Museums
With the relocation of the PMO, the South Block and North Block will no longer function as administrative offices. The Home Ministry and Finance Ministry have already moved to Kartavya Bhavan.
Both blocks will now be transformed into a public museum named ‘Yuge Yugeen Bharat Museum’, showcasing India’s civilisational journey. A formal agreement for this transformation was signed with the French Museum Development Agency on December 19, 2024.
