Rajasthan Bus Fire Incident: Heart-Wrenching Tragedy in Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan | October 15, 2025 — In a horrifying incident, a moving AC bus caught fire in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district on Tuesday afternoon, killing more than 20 passengers and injuring several others. Many were burnt alive inside the vehicle after the door got jammed, while a few managed to escape by breaking the windows.
The incident took place around 3:30 PM near Thaiyat village on the Jaisalmer–Jodhpur Highway. The bus, carrying 57 passengers, had departed from Jaisalmer at 3:00 PM for Jodhpur. About 20 km into the journey, smoke began to rise from the rear of the vehicle. Within moments, the entire bus was engulfed in flames, leaving passengers trapped.
Fire tenders rushed to the spot and managed to douse the blaze after strenuous efforts. Nineteen passengers with severe burn injuries were taken to Jodhpur for treatment, where most of them succumbed to their injuries. Four others are undergoing treatment in Jaisalmer and are reported to be in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit in the AC unit may have triggered the fire. Authorities have collected DNA samples from the remains to identify the deceased, and two family members of each victim are being tested for confirmation.
