Pimpri-Chinchwad | Correspondent:The path has been cleared for the transfer of 20 hectares of land—currently under the Animal Husbandry Department in Tathawade—to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate for its headquarters, parade ground, and other allied offices. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced that a Government Resolution (GR) regarding this matter would be issued in the coming days. He also assured that the necessary decision would be taken by the Cabinet within a month.

Given the growing population of Pimpri-Chinchwad city, there had been a long-standing demand for the construction of an independent and well-equipped headquarters for the police administration. MLA Mahesh Landge had consistently pursued this issue with the state government, and his efforts are now bearing fruit. A crucial meeting regarding this matter was held under the chairmanship of Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, attended by Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey and others.

In the Cabinet meeting held on October 10, 2024, in-principle approval was granted to transfer 20 hectares of land—out of the total 67.94 hectares at the ‘Valubhata’ farm area in Tathawade—for the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate’s headquarters, parade ground, and other essential offices. Accordingly, the Home Department has submitted a proposal to the Revenue Department for the necessary proceedings.

Opinions regarding this proposal had been sought from various departments. Although the Animal Husbandry Department had noted a requirement for the land in question, the government is proceeding with a positive decision, recognizing the critical need for a modern police headquarters to maintain law and order in the city. MLA Mahesh Landge has consistently followed up on this matter with the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister, and the Revenue and Home Departments. As a result, a crucial milestone—the construction of an independent administrative complex for the Police Commissionerate—is now nearing completion.

Speaking on this, MLA Mahesh Landge said, “Pimpri-Chinchwad is one of the fastest-growing cities in the state. Given the city’s expanding needs, it was essential to establish a modern, fully equipped Police Commissionerate. The state government has adopted a positive stance on this, and a final decision is expected soon. This will significantly strengthen the city’s security infrastructure.”

“Due to the rapid expansion of Pimpri-Chinchwad, the need for an independent and state-of-the-art Police Commissionerate had been felt for years. An independent Commissionerate was established under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Now, the process of transferring the land required to build the Police Commissionerate headquarters at Tathawade is in its final stages of resolution. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has given a positive assurance regarding this, and a cabinet decision is expected within the next month. Providing robust infrastructure to the police administration will further strengthen law and order in the city and ensure more effective and prompt service for citizens. This project will prove pivotal for the safe and planned development of Pimpri-Chinchwad.”
