Bigg Boss Actress’ Home Robbed of Rs 1 Crore
Mumbai: A shocking burglary has been reported at the Mumbai residence of Bigg Boss fame actress Lopamudra Raut, with the thief allegedly making his way into the house through a ventilation duct and stealing cash, gold jewellery and gold bars worth nearly Rs 1 crore.
The incident took place at the actress’s residence in Santacruz, Mumbai, while she was away from the city. Santacruz Police and the local Crime Branch launched an investigation and arrested the alleged main accused from Bihar.
According to police, around Rs 76 lakh worth of stolen property and assets has so far been recovered from the accused. The investigation is still underway, and police teams are working to trace the remaining stolen valuables.
Actress Was Away From Mumbai
According to the investigation, Lopamudra Raut was away from Mumbai between June 20 and July 27. Police suspect that the accused used this period to target the actress’s residence after confirming that the house was unoccupied.
Investigators found that the accused had allegedly conducted a recce of the house before carrying out the burglary. He was reportedly looking for locked and unoccupied houses in Mumbai.
After allegedly confirming that the actress was not at home, the accused entered the residence through a ventilation duct and stole cash, gold jewellery and gold bars. The total value of the stolen property is estimated to be around Rs 1 crore.
Police Traced Accused Through CCTV and Phone Data
Following the burglary, police began examining CCTV footage from the area and tracking the suspected movements of the accused.
Investigators also examined the suspect’s mobile phone records and location data. The technical investigation reportedly provided police with a crucial lead indicating that the accused was in Darbhanga, Bihar.
A Mumbai Police team subsequently travelled to Bihar and, with the assistance of local police, traced and arrested the accused.
26-Year-Old Man Arrested From Bihar
Police arrested 26-year-old Chandan Kamlesh Mukhiya, a native of Bihar, in connection with the case.
During the investigation, police reportedly learned that the accused allegedly committed the burglary for personal financial gain. Investigators also found that he had allegedly attempted to purchase land in his sister’s name using the stolen money.
The accused is currently in police custody and is being questioned. Police are continuing their investigation to recover the remaining stolen property and determine whether the accused was involved in any other similar burglaries.
Saif Ali Khan House Break-In Connection
The method of entry has drawn attention because it resembles the earlier break-in at actor Saif Ali Khan’s residence, where an intruder had allegedly entered through a ventilation duct.
However, the two incidents are separate cases, and the police investigation into the Lopamudra Raut burglary is currently focused on the arrested accused and the recovery of the remaining stolen valuables.
