Patna (Bihar):
As the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Election campaign winds down, the atmosphere heated up once again after Tejashwi Yadav, the Chief Ministerial candidate of the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), made a major announcement during a press conference.

Tejashwi declared that once his government comes to power, a new initiative named “Mai Bahan Man Yojna” will be implemented, aimed at empowering women across the state. Under this scheme, every mother and sister in Bihar would receive ₹30,000 directly in their bank accounts on January 14, coinciding with Makar Sankranti.

“The people of Bihar are in the mood for change. This time, the public will vote for transformation. The old government will be uprooted,” Tejashwi said confidently while unveiling the scheme.

Promises to ‘Jeevika Didis’ and Women Workers

Tejashwi Yadav also criticized the current government for the exploitation of Jeevika Didis, the community mobilizers working under the state’s livelihood program.
He assured that these workers would be made permanent employees and would receive an annual honorarium of ₹30,000, along with a monthly stipend of ₹2,000.
Additionally, he promised a ₹5 lakh insurance cover and loan interest waiver for them.

Tejashwi also reiterated his promise to restore the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) once his party forms the government.

Support for Farmers and Employees

In his long list of assurances, Yadav announced several benefits for farmers.
He said that once in power, his government would provide a bonus of ₹300 per quintal on paddy and ₹400 per quintal on wheat, over and above the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

He also pledged to ensure that postings and transfers of government employees — including police personnel, teachers, and healthcare workers — would be done within a 70 km radius of their hometowns, allowing them to stay closer to their families.
