Kupwara (Jammu and Kashmir):
Two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kupwara sector of Jammu and Kashmir were gunned down by the Indian Army on Monday evening. The encounter took place near the Machil and Dudhnial areas, and a large-scale search operation is currently underway, officials confirmed.

According to a statement by the Indian Army, around 7 PM on Monday (October 13), troops noticed suspicious movement near the LoC in the Kupwara sector. The soldiers immediately opened fire, effectively foiling the infiltration attempt. In the ensuing gunfire, two terrorists were neutralized.

Following the encounter, the entire area has been cordoned off, and a search and sanitization operation is in progress to ensure no further infiltration attempts occur. “Operations are ongoing, and more details will be shared later,” an Indian Army official stated.

⚔️ Recent Security Incidents:

This incident comes shortly after a gunfight in Rajouri district, where terrorists clashed with the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Biranth area under Kandi police station.

Security forces across Jammu and Kashmir have been placed on high alert, especially along the LoC, as infiltration attempts tend to increase before winter sets in. Terror outfits often try to exploit poor visibility and snow conditions to cross the border.

🛡️ High-Level Security Review:

To counter such threats, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed security agencies to maintain a tight vigil along the LoC and International Border. The instructions were issued during a high-level security review meeting in Delhi, chaired by Shah.

The meeting, which lasted nearly three hours, was attended by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, the Army Chief, the Director of Intelligence Bureau, the Chief Secretary of J&K, the Director General of Police, as well as top officials from Central Armed Police Forces and the Jammu & Kashmir administration.

Officials reviewed the ground situation, ongoing anti-infiltration measures, and winter preparedness along sensitive border stretches.
