The BCCI’s Centre of Excellence has reportedly given fitness clearance to both cricketers, ending speculation about their availability. Hardik Pandya is likely to make his return to India’s ODI setup after a gap of 14 months, while Rohit Sharma could play his first ODI match since January this year.

Both players sustained injuries during IPL 2026. Rohit Sharma was dealing with a hamstring injury, whereas Hardik Pandya suffered a back-related issue. The good news for Team India is that both have now fully recovered and are ready for competitive action.

According to reports, Hardik Pandya has been training at the BCCI Centre of Excellence since June 2. He has completed all match-related activities, including a 10-over bowling workload, without experiencing any discomfort. Team management is satisfied with his progress and fitness levels ahead of the series.

The three-match ODI series against Afghanistan is considered an important step in India’s preparations for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup. The return of experienced players like Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya is expected to strengthen the team’s campaign and provide valuable balance to the squad.

The first ODI between India and Afghanistan will be played in Dharamshala on June 13. The second match is scheduled for June 17 in Lucknow, while the third and final ODI will take place in Chennai on June 20.
