Goa Night Club Fire:
Following the tragic fire at the Romeo Lane nightclub in Hadfade, the Goa government has initiated a massive crackdown on illegal constructions and unauthorized clubs across the coastal region. Since Goa is a major tourist state, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said the government will ensure such incidents never repeat.

Luthra Brothers to Be Arrested Soon, Says CM

Even though the Luthra brothers — owners of the Romeo Lane club — have fled abroad, the state government is coordinating with central agencies to track them down. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that they will soon be arrested.

High-Level Meeting Held After Tragedy

CM Sawant held a meeting with:

  • Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte

  • Chief Secretary Dr. V. Kandavelu

  • DGP

  • Representatives of various tourism industry bodies

Several decisions were taken to strengthen safety norms and tighten inspections across all tourism businesses.

Judicial Inquiry Committee Formed

A committee led by a judicial magistrate has been set up to investigate the incident. After receiving the report, all unauthorized and illegal structures will be demolished, the CM clarified. No political or personal considerations will be entertained.

Additionally, a special safety committee has been formed to inspect:

  • Casinos

  • Tourism establishments

  • Beach businesses

  • Adventure activity operators

This committee includes Revenue Secretary, IG Police, Joint Finance Secretary, and Director of Fire & Emergency Services.

Six Arrested So Far

The Chief Minister confirmed that six people have already been arrested in connection with the nightclub fire. All departments have been put on high alert, and license inspections of tourism establishments have begun. Businesses operating without valid licenses will face immediate demolition if structures are illegal.

Key Points from the Chief Minister’s Statement

  • Judicial inquiry report may lead to court-monitored investigation

  • If former IPS officer found guilty of stopping action, strict steps will follow

  • Establishments without proper fire safety equipment will be shut down

  • Tourist safety will be given utmost priority

Officials May Be Arrested if They Skip Inquiry

The CM warned that suspended officials who fail to appear for questioning in connection with the nightclub fire may face arrest.

Tourism Minister: Goa Is Safe for Tourists

Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said the government has taken the tragedy seriously and is implementing strict safety measures.
Illegal constructions are already being demolished, and stricter rules have been enforced for activities like paragliding.

“Goa is safe for tourists,” the minister reassured visitors.
