Continuous rainfall since yesterday has led to massive water accumulation on the service roads along National Highway-4 (Dehu Road–Katraj Bypass). Several stretches of the road have developed deep potholes, making commuting hazardous for motorists and significantly disrupting traffic flow.

The situation worsened during peak hours as severe traffic congestion was reported across the locality. School buses carrying students were seen stranded in waterlogged stretches, causing inconvenience to children, parents, and commuters alike. Residents also faced considerable delays in their daily travel due to the flooded roads.

Navnath Maruti Dhawale, Founder-President of the Punawalekar Abhiyan and BJP Pimpri-Chinchwad City District Secretary, stated that he had repeatedly raised the issue with the National Highways Authority in the past and had urged officials to implement permanent measures to prevent recurring flooding. However, despite repeated representations, no concrete action has been taken, forcing residents to endure the same hardships every monsoon.

Expressing concern over the recurring civic issue, Dhawale once again appealed to the National Highways Authority to immediately establish an effective stormwater drainage system along the service roads, repair damaged road surfaces and potholes, and ensure uninterrupted movement for commuters.

With Punawale witnessing rapid urban growth and increasing vehicular traffic, residents have demanded that the authorities implement a long-term and sustainable solution to the persistent problem of waterlogging. Citizens believe that immediate intervention is essential to improve road safety, ease traffic congestion, and prevent similar disruptions during the ongoing monsoon season.

“Every monsoon, the residents of Punawale are forced to suffer due to the same recurring problem of waterlogging on the service roads. Despite repeated representations to the National Highways Authority, no permanent solution has been implemented. The safety of commuters, school children, and local residents cannot be compromised any longer. I strongly urge the authorities to immediately improve the drainage system, repair the damaged roads, and take concrete steps to ensure that citizens are not subjected to the same hardships year after year.”
