Mumbai:
The ongoing delay in the third round of MBBS and BDS admissions has created uncertainty among medical aspirants across Maharashtra. While the National Medical Commission (NMC) has yet to finalize the extended seat allocation for MBBS and BDS programs, the AYUSH (BAMS, BHMS, BUMS) third-round admission list was released on Saturday as per schedule.

This mismatch in timelines has placed several students in a difficult position. Many who secured seats in AYUSH government colleges are now reconsidering their options, as the increase in MBBS seats in the third round could offer them a chance to shift to MBBS — a more preferred medical program.

Education experts and parents have raised concerns over the lack of synchronization between the two admission processes. They argue that releasing the AYUSH list before the completion of MBBS counselling could lead to unnecessary financial and academic complications for students who wish to upgrade their courses later.

Students have urged the authorities to ensure coordination between the State CET Cell and AYUSH Admissions Central Counselling Committee (AACCC) to avoid such conflicts in the future.

Meanwhile, government medical colleges in Maharashtra are expected to benefit from the additional MBBS seats sanctioned for the current academic year. However, the delay in releasing the third-round list continues to cause anxiety among candidates awaiting clarity on their final admissions.
