Pavana Dam Now 50% Full!

Pimpri Chinchwad | The Pavana Dam, which supplies water to the Pimpri-Chinchwad city, is now 50.78% full. Continuous rainfall in the dam’s catchment area has led to a steady rise in water levels.
For the first time in recent years, pre-monsoon showers in May arrived with significant intensity, causing rivers and streams to flow early. This resulted in a substantial inflow of water into the dam’s catchment area. So far, the Pavana dam region has received 664 mm of rainfall over the past few days, contributing to the rising water levels.
Water Released from Wadivale Dam into Pavana River
Water is also being released into the Pavana River from the spillway of Wadivale Dam, located in the Maval region, further adding to the flow.
Kasarsai Dam Discharge Increased to 2040 Cusecs
The discharge from the Kasarsai Dam spillway into the Kasarsai stream has been increased from 1,360 cusecs to 2,040 cusecs.
According to a letter from Executive Engineer D. M. Dubal of the Pune Irrigation Department, the discharge may be adjusted depending on the intensity of rainfall and water inflow in the coming days.
Public Advisory
All citizens are strongly advised not to enter riverbeds, and if any materials or livestock are present in or near the river, they should be moved immediately.
Residents in low-lying areas should be alerted, and everyone is urged to exercise caution and take necessary safety measures, said Engineer Dubal.
