Andhra Pradesh Delegation Impressed by Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Eco-Friendly Policies..!

Pimpri Chinchwad | A delegation of senior officials from various municipal corporations and institutions of Andhra Pradesh visited Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on a special tour to study its waste management projects. While reviewing various projects in the city, they expressed satisfaction over PCMC’s eco-friendly policies.
The delegation included Tadipatri Municipal Commissioner S. Shiva Ramakrishna, Chief Medical Officer of Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Dr. E. N. V. Nareshkumar, Executive Engineer K. Gurappa Yadav, Executive Engineer M. Narayana Swamy, Technical Expert Srinivas Reddy, Senior Project Associate (CDMA) M. D. Javed, and Project Associate (Swachh Andhra Corporation) S. D. Rahatullah. They were briefed about various projects by Executive Engineer Harvindersingh Bansal, H Regional Office Assistant Health Officer Ankush Jite, Junior Engineer Dasharath Waghole, and Junior Engineer Swaliha Mulla under the guidance of Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh, Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate, Chief Engineer Sanjay Kulkarni, and Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar.
The delegation studied the ongoing initiatives under the city’s Health and Environment Departments, including door-to-door waste collection and segregation, the zero-waste project at Dapodi, waste transfer stations, the construction and demolition (C&D) waste processing project at Moshi, and the biomethanation project, among other significant undertakings.
The municipal corporation scientifically disposes of household waste, plastic, garden waste, leftover food, biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste, e-waste, and biomedical waste generated from residential complexes, industrial areas, commercial establishments, hospitals, and vegetable markets. The delegation learned in detail about this entire process.
The delegation also visited the Dapodi Zero-Waste Project and observed the entire process firsthand. At this project, local women collect waste from more than 400 households daily. Wet waste is converted into compost, while dry waste is processed through various machines into recyclable materials. Sanitary waste is safely disposed of using an incinerator, which was explained to the delegation in detail.
In addition, a 200 TPD capacity C&D waste processing project has been implemented at Moshi. During their visit, the delegation learned how the operations there are carried out. They also reviewed the 200-metric-ton capacity centers currently operating successfully at Kasarwadi, Gavlimatha, and Kalewadi. At the Moshi Hotel Waste-to-Biogas (Biomethanation) Project, officials explained to the delegation how wet waste from all hotels, eateries, and marriage halls in the city is collected through GPS-enabled vehicles, segregated, and processed.
Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has implemented sustainable and innovative measures in solid waste management. Providing cleanliness facilities to every citizen of the city is our prime objective. Through citizen participation, the use of advanced technology, and strict planning, the corporation has set an ideal example in solid waste management.

The waste processing plant at Moshi and the transfer stations set up in the city are significant steps towards cleanliness. PCMC consistently strives to establish various projects for waste collection, segregation, and scientific management. The fact that delegations from different states come to study these projects proves their success.
