Abhishek Banerjee’s Five-Storey Party Office Demolished; Bulldozer Action Sparks Political Row in West Bengal
District administration says the building violated construction norms and was demolished after repeated notices allegedly went unanswered; TMC protests the action.

Kolkata: A five-storey office reportedly linked to Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee has been demolished by the district administration, triggering a fresh political controversy in West Bengal.
According to reports, the party office located in Amtala was demolished after local authorities alleged that the building had been constructed without the required approvals and in violation of building regulations.

The action has drawn sharp reactions from the Trinamool Congress, with party workers protesting against the demolition. On the other hand, BJP MLA Agnishwar Naskar welcomed the move, alleging that the structure had been built illegally and stating that the administration had acted in accordance with the law.
A senior official from the South 24 Parganas district administration said the demolition was carried out after following due legal procedure. According to the official, complaints had been received regarding the alleged unauthorized construction, and notices had been issued to the concerned parties before the action was taken.
Administrative sources further claimed that despite two notices, no response was received and the concerned parties did not appear before the district authorities, prompting the administration to proceed with the demolition.
The development comes amid heightened political activity in West Bengal. However, the broader political claims mentioned in circulating reports—such as alleged defections of TMC legislators or restrictions on party bank accounts—have not been independently verified in this report.
