On the Occasion of Teachers’ Day, PCMC Education Department Organizes ‘Learn and Create’ Initiative

Pimpri Chinchwad | Books in the hands of students to teach, officials seated in front to absorb knowledge… drawings colorfully painted with imagination by children and lessons echoing in their voices… questions posed by students and answers given by officials… such an enthusiastic, joyful, and experience-filled atmosphere was witnessed during the innovative ‘Learn and Create’ initiative organized on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. This initiative, arranged by the Education Department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), truly made Teachers’ Day memorable.
Various activities were organized by the PCMC Education Department on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. As part of this, the unique ‘Learn and Create’ initiative was recently held with the objective of familiarizing municipal school students with the functioning of the Municipal Corporation. In this novel program, students from municipal schools played the role of teachers, while Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh, Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Assistant and City Engineer Bapu Gaikwad, Chief Garden Superintendent Mahesh Gargote, Deputy Commissioner Sitaram Bahure, Assistant Commissioner of Education Department Kiran Kumar More, Chief Security Officer Uday Jarande, Special Officer Kiran Gaikwad, Education Department Administrative Officer Sangeeta Bangar, Deputy Fire Officer Balasaheb Vaidya, Vinay Nale, Public Relations Officer Prafull Puranik, along with other officers and employees participated.
The ‘Learn and Create’ program began in an enthusiastic atmosphere. Students conducted classes in Science, Mathematics, Marathi, Hindi, and Drawing. In each class, students prepared like real teachers and taught lessons from textbooks to the officials. In the Science subject, students demonstrated the lesson on ‘Frictional Force.’ Even Commissioner Shekhar Singh was involved in this demonstration.
In the Hindi class, students had officials from various municipal departments read the play ‘Waris Kaun.’ Afterwards, the officials were given tasks like finding new words, writing question–answers, etc., from the play. To lighten the atmosphere, first-grade students presented the nursery rhyme ‘Ek Hota Kawla’ (Once There Was a Crow).
In the Drawing class, students taught officials about conceptual drawing, color combinations, and painting. Each student used creativity to present different artworks. This gave officials a chance to relive their childhood drawing sessions.
In the Marathi subject, students taught the lesson ‘Jal Dindi.’ Through this, they conveyed information about river pollution and its solutions. Additionally, students informed the officials about the Pavana River Rejuvenation Project. This displayed the students’ awareness regarding environmental conservation.
The ‘Learn and Create’ initiative provided students the opportunity to play the role of a teacher. While teaching, they also experienced strengthening their own knowledge. On the other hand, officials got a chance to relive school life once again. This Teachers’ Day initiative turned out to be memorable for both students and officials. Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh and Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil appreciated the students’ efforts and felicitated them with a rose and a book.
These lessons taught by students once again revived school memories. For officials, these were unique and joyous moments. Children’s curiosity showed how easily knowledge can be absorbed. Initiatives like ‘Learn and Create’ not only benefit students but also provide positive direction to society.

The classes conducted by students were not just school lessons but life-value imparting experiences. Their creativity, confidence, and awareness about environmental conservation reflected how alert the next generation already is. Through this unique celebration of Teachers’ Day, the foundation for holistic personality development of students has been strengthened.
– Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Additional Commissioner, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation
In this initiative, students enacted the role of teachers so naturally that every class became a new journey of knowledge. I was deeply impressed by the children’s creativity, experimental approach, and thinking ability. Such initiatives boost children’s confidence and strengthen their participation in the learning process.
