Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif | has once again stirred controversy with his remarks on Kashmir, raising concerns of escalating diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan. Addressing a public gathering in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Thursday, Sharif claimed that Kashmir would eventually become a part of Pakistan.

His statement comes at a time when relations between the two countries are already strained following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and India’s subsequent military action, ‘Operation Sindoor’. Sharif’s assertion that Operation Sindoor was unsuccessful has further fueled political debate.

Speaking on the Kashmir issue, Sharif said that any resolution must respect the wishes of the Kashmiri people and adhere to United Nations resolutions. He reiterated that the government and people of Pakistan stand firmly with Kashmiris and that his visit was meant to express solidarity.

During the speech, Sharif invoked Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah and described Kashmir as the country’s “lifeline.” While calling for peace in the region, he emphasized that peace should be based on equality and justice.

Shehbaz Sharif’s remarks are likely to intensify diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan, with expectations of a strong response from India in the coming days.
