Israel Angered Over ‘Board of Peace’; Jared Kushner Blamed by Israeli Leaders

Israel Opposes Inclusion of Turkey and Qatar, Accuses Trump’s Son-in-Law of Acting Out of Personal Grievance

Jerusalem | Washington:
Israel has expressed strong displeasure over the formation of the ‘Board of Peace’, an initiative launched under the leadership of former US President Donald Trump to work toward ending the Gaza conflict and establishing peace in the region. Israeli leaders have reportedly placed the blame for the controversial structure of the board on Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and former senior advisor.

Despite being one of the United States’ closest allies in the Middle East, Israel has reacted sharply to the decision to include Turkey and Qatar—countries viewed with suspicion by Tel Aviv—on the Board of Peace. Several members of Israel’s Security Cabinet have openly opposed the move and accused Kushner of influencing the board’s composition for personal and political reasons.

What Happened Behind Closed Doors?

According to sources cited by The Jerusalem Post, a closed-door meeting of Israel’s security cabinet was held on Sunday, where ministers strongly criticized Kushner. Participants in the meeting alleged that Kushner is “taking revenge” against Israel after it refused to reopen the Rafah border crossing.

Israeli ministers claimed that Kushner’s personal ties and financial relationships with Arab leaders have significantly influenced the structure of the Board of Peace. They also alleged that his actions have diluted Israel’s sovereignty commitments that were highlighted during the 2020 diplomatic initiatives.

One senior minister reportedly remarked that Kushner holds “imaginary ideas about global peace” that do not align with Israel’s strategic and security interests.

Israel Firm on Opposition

Israeli officials emphasized that while Israel continues to cooperate closely with the US administration, it will strongly oppose any Gaza-related committee or peace framework that includes Turkey or Qatar. The security cabinet has decided to reassess the situation within the next two weeks and determine further diplomatic steps.

The developments underline growing friction between Israel and certain elements of US-led Middle East diplomacy, despite long-standing strategic ties between the two nations.
