PCMC Standing Committee Chairman Abhishek Barne Leads High-Level Meeting to Ensure Uninterrupted Power and Water Supply During Monsoon
Pimpri-Chinchwad: With the monsoon season intensifying, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has initiated proactive measures to ensure uninterrupted electricity and water supply across the city. A high-level review meeting, led by Standing Committee Chairman Abhishek Barne, was convened with senior officials of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) and municipal authorities to address recurring power outages and strengthen emergency preparedness.
The meeting focused on preventing disruptions in critical civic services, particularly in flood-prone and rapidly developing areas such as Ravet, Walhekarwadi, Rahatani and other parts of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Chairman Barne expressed serious concern over incidents where residents in Ravet and adjoining localities reportedly faced power outages lasting four to six days, directing officials to establish robust contingency mechanisms to avoid such situations in the future.

A key agenda of the meeting was safeguarding electricity supply to PCMC’s vital water pumping stations located at Chinchwad, Rahatani and MIDC. Officials were instructed to ensure that power supply to these facilities remains unaffected under any circumstances, thereby preventing disruptions to the city’s water distribution network.
The review also emphasized the need for technical interventions to protect feeder pillars and Ring Main Units (RMUs) from waterlogging during heavy rains. Discussions included timely installation of protective covers, coordination between MSEDCL and PCMC during road excavation works, expediting estimates for civic projects, and addressing pending issues related to PD meters and new electricity connections.
Addressing the officials, Abhishek Barne stated, “Citizens should not suffer due to power interruptions during the monsoon. Every complaint must be attended to immediately, and all agencies must work in close coordination to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply across Pimpri-Chinchwad.”
He further assured that PCMC would extend full support and cooperation to MSEDCL to implement necessary infrastructure upgrades and emergency measures in the larger public interest.
The meeting was attended by Mayor Ravi Landge, Leader of the House Prashant Shitole, Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar, Leader of Opposition Bhausaheb Bhoir, Additional Municipal Commissioner Trupti Sandbhor, Vikrant Bagade, MSEDCL Chief Engineer Sunil Kakade, Superintending Engineer Aditya Gaikwad, Executive Engineer Somnath Munde, Lahanu Vishwanath, along with other senior officials from both PCMC and MSEDCL.
The meeting underscored the administration’s commitment to ensuring seamless civic services and enhancing the city’s resilience during the monsoon season.
