Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Wins Prestigious ‘SKOCH Award 2025’ for Property Tax Reforms
Nationwide Recognition at 104th SKOCH Summit for Digital Governance and Record-Breaking Tax Collection

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has been honoured with the prestigious ‘SKOCH Award 2025’ for its comprehensive property tax reform initiative and citizen-centric digital governance model. The award was presented at the 104th SKOCH Summit held in New Delhi, marking a significant national-level recognition of NMMC’s innovative administrative efforts.
The award was received on behalf of the Municipal Corporation by Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar and Deputy Commissioner of Property Tax Department Dr. Amol Palve, from SKOCH Development Foundation Chairman Sameer Kochhar.
This achievement reflects the visionary leadership and strategic guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, under whose direction several innovative reforms were successfully implemented in the property tax system.
Historic Growth in Property Tax Collection
Following the effective implementation of property tax reforms, NMMC recorded a historic property tax collection of ₹478.35 crore in the financial year 2025–26. Key highlights of the initiative include:

Property tax payments received from 1,59,425 properties

₹427.20 crore collected as current year tax

₹51.15 crore recovered as arrears

Nearly fourfold increase in online tax payments
These reforms not only strengthened revenue generation but also enhanced transparency, efficiency, and ease of compliance for citizens.
The SKOCH Award is considered one of India’s most respected recognitions in the fields of governance, finance, and digital transformation, making this achievement a milestone for Navi Mumbai’s civic administration.
