Pimpri Chinchwad | The seven villages adjacent to the limits of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation—Hinjewadi, Man, Marunji, Jambe, Nere, Sangavade, and Gahunje—should be included in the municipal corporation. This will enable planned development of these villages, stated Maval’s Shiv Sena MP Shrirang Barne in a representation to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. In response, the Deputy CM ordered the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department to immediately initiate the inclusion process.

MP Barne and Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap met with Deputy CM Shinde in Mumbai on Monday, accompanied by local citizens and IT professionals. They provided detailed information regarding waterlogging and traffic congestion in the IT park area and submitted a memorandum of demands.

MP Barne stated in the memorandum that Hinjewadi, Marunji, Nere, Jambe, Sangavade, and Gahunje are located next to the municipal limits and have witnessed significant urbanization. However, there is a lack of basic infrastructure in these areas. Since Hinjewadi is an important IT hub, its development is crucial. Due to the growing population, the gram panchayats are unable to provide adequate services to citizens. Local residents have also demanded that their villages be included in the municipal corporation for better amenities.

These villages, located in Maval and Mulshi talukas, are very close to the municipal limits. Unauthorized constructions are rapidly increasing in this area. Natural drains are being blocked or diverted, leading to flooding in Hinjewadi during this monsoon. The river in the area has also turned into a drain.

Currently, the responsibility for these villages lies with PMRDA, which lacks sufficient manpower and cannot enforce building regulations effectively. This is leading to deterioration of the area. Due to traffic congestion and various other problems, people in this region prefer to move to Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Hinjewadi and Man are home to a major IT park attracting citizens from all over the country. Considering the rising urbanization, lack of infrastructure, and traffic issues, it is essential to include these villages in the municipal limits.

Gahunje hosts an international-standard cricket stadium, but due to inadequate sewage treatment facilities, untreated water is being discharged directly into the river, increasing pollution in the Pavana river.

To ensure the development of these villages, provide civic amenities to citizens, and control unauthorized constructions, MP Barne has demanded that Hinjewadi, Man, Marunji, Nere, Jambe, Sangavade, and Gahunje be included in the municipal limits. He also urged that substantial funds be allocated for the development of this area.
