Known for her successful career across television, films, theatre, and web series, Hruta said she has been part of the entertainment industry since the age of 17. Despite earning a loyal fan following and critical appreciation, she admitted that online criticism about her looks continues to affect her deeply.

Speaking in a recent interview with Galatta India, Hruta reflected on her acting journey, saying she never received formal acting training and learned the craft by observing experienced performers while growing up in front of television cameras.

The actress explained that while audiences appreciate an artist’s work, many are equally interested in judging how celebrities look, what they wear, and whether they have gained or lost weight.

“People seem more interested in how I look and whether I’ve gained weight than in the work I do. That’s what gets discussed the most, and it genuinely hurts,” Hruta said.

Talking about choosing projects, Hruta said she has always preferred quality over quantity. She revealed that during the early years of her career, she accepted the opportunities that came her way because newcomers rarely have the freedom to choose. However, after establishing herself, she became more selective about the roles she accepted.

Hruta also stressed that fame and popularity are temporary and should not become the sole measure of an actor’s success.

Recalling the release of her hit television show Fulpakharu in 2017, she said it coincided with the rapid rise of Instagram and social media, leading to increased public scrutiny and criticism.

The actress further pointed out that many people judge artists based on their face value and appearance, something she believes should never be more important than talent and hard work.
