Heavy Rain Alert Across Multiple States, IMD Issues 48-Hour Warning — Maharashtra Under Fresh Alert
IMD forecasts very heavy rainfall over several northeastern and central Indian states; Maharashtra, including Konkan and North Maharashtra, placed under yellow and high alert.

IMD Weather Update:
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh rainfall warning across multiple states, including Maharashtra, as the country braces for another wet spell. Though the effect of the previous cyclone has gradually weakened, a new low-pressure area has formed, triggering the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in many regions over the next 48 hours.
According to IMD, northeastern states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to experience heavy to extremely heavy rainfall during the next two days. Meanwhile, southern states including Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are expected to see light to moderate showers. Rajasthan may witness cloudy skies with intermittent rainfall during this period.
In Maharashtra, rainfall activity is likely to continue for the next one to two days. IMD has issued a yellow alert for several districts, predicting light to moderate rainfall in parts of the state.
The Konkan region, including Raigad, Sindhudurg, Thane, and Palghar, is under alert for potential rainfall, while Nashik, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, and Dhule are on high alert due to the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds. Light to moderate rainfall is also expected in Ahmednagar and surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, Marathwada, which has already witnessed excess rainfall this season, remains under the radar. Continuous downpours have caused significant agricultural damage, and fresh rain warnings have once again been issued for the region.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain alert and follow local weather advisories, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
