Nagpur:
Tension has escalated in Nagpur after police arrested two key farmer leaders in the early hours of the morning amid the ongoing farmers’ protest. The arrested leaders include Raju Hatwar, district committee member of the party and district secretary of the Farm Labour Union, and Bhimrao Gondane, the union’s president.

The arrests were made by Ramtek Police at around 3 AM, reportedly without prior notice. This sudden police action has sparked strong anger and condemnation among farmer organizations, who allege that the government has betrayed the farmers by extending a proposal for talks while simultaneously arresting their leaders.

Prominent farmer leader Ajit Navale strongly condemned the arrests, calling them undemocratic and provocative. He emphasized that such actions show the government’s insensitivity towards farmers’ legitimate demands and warned that the agitation would intensify if the leaders were not released immediately.

The arrests come against the backdrop of ongoing farmer protests across Maharashtra, where several unions have been pressing for loan waivers, fair crop prices, and action on drought relief.

Farmer groups are now planning to hold urgent meetings to decide the next course of action, as tensions continue to mount in the region.
