SET Exam Postponed Again, New Date Announced

The State Eligibility Test (SET) conducted by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) for Assistant Professor recruitment has been postponed for the second time, with the university announcing September 27 as the new examination date.

According to an official notification issued by the university’s SET Department, the exam was earlier scheduled to be held on September 6. However, the date coincides with the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). To prevent candidates from being forced to choose between the two examinations, the university decided to reschedule the SET exam.

The SPPU SET Department is the authorized agency responsible for conducting the State Eligibility Test in Maharashtra and Goa in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Originally, the 41st SET examination was scheduled for July 26. That date was postponed after it clashed with several Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) recruitment examinations. Additionally, the ongoing Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage between July 7 and July 26 was expected to create transportation challenges, making it difficult for candidates to reach examination centres on time.

Following the first postponement, September 6 was announced as the revised date. However, candidates later pointed out that the revised schedule conflicted with the CBSE CTET, raising concerns that many aspirants would have to skip one of the two important examinations.

Taking students’ concerns into consideration, the university has now decided to postpone the examination once again.

University Prioritises Students’ Interests

The university stated that the decision was taken to ensure that no eligible candidate misses the opportunity to appear for the SET examination because of a scheduling conflict.

With the latest revision, the 41st Maharashtra-Goa SET Examination will now be conducted on September 27, allowing candidates sufficient time to prepare without facing a clash with CTET.
