“Arogya Jagar” Program Successfully Conducted: Health Camp, Organ Donation Awareness Lecture and CPR Training

The Maharashtra State Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Pune successfully organized a one-day awareness program titled “Arogya Jagar.” The program featured a comprehensive health camp for students, an organ donation awareness lecture, and emergency medical first aid (CPR) training. The initiative was supported by DPU Super Specialty Hospital, Pimpri, Pune, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 300 students.
The primary objective of the program was to promote health awareness among students, prepare them to respond effectively during emergencies, and foster social responsibility regarding organ donation.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. Seema Jagade, Principal of the institute, and Dr. Vrishali Patil, Head and Director of the Organ Donation and Transplantation Department at DPU Super Specialty Hospital, Pimpri.
The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Vinod Mohitkar, Director of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, and Dr. D. V. Jadhav, Joint Director, Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Pune.
During the organ donation awareness session, Dr. Vrishali Patil emphasized that organ donation is a noble, life-saving act that can offer a new lease on life to patients suffering from organ failure. She highlighted the importance of awareness, legal consent, and social responsibility in promoting organ donation.
In the CPR training session, Dr. Arjun H, Assistant Professor at Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Pimpri, provided hands-on training on cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He stressed that timely CPR during cardiac arrest can save lives. Students were trained in chest compression techniques, rescue breathing, and identifying emergency situations, boosting their confidence and preparedness.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Seema Jagade stated that students pursuing careers in hotel management must focus on health awareness along with professional skills. She emphasized that learning life-saving techniques like CPR and pledging for organ donation are essential aspects of social responsibility.
As part of the initiative, students underwent health check-ups including hemoglobin, blood sugar, blood pressure, ECG, eye, ENT, gynecology, dermatology, and cardiac screenings. Medicines, medical guidance, and ABHA card registrations were also provided during the program.
