Rajdhani Express Accident: Eight Elephants Killed After Being Hit by Rajdhani Express; Engine and Five Coaches Derailed

Sairang–New Delhi Rajdhani Express derailed with its engine and five coaches after hitting eight elephants in Assam’s Hojai district. The tragic incident resulted in the death of all eight elephants, officials from the Forest Department confirmed.

According to the North East Frontier Railway, the accident occurred at around 2:17 a.m. in the Changjurai area of Hojai district. Several passengers sustained injuries due to the derailment. Divisional Forest Officer Suhas Kadam stated that he, along with other forest officials, rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the information.

Following the accident, railway services on the Jamunamukh–Kampur section were disrupted, and trains on this route were diverted via alternative lines. Restoration work on the affected railway track is currently underway. The Sairang–New Delhi Rajdhani Express connects Sairang (near Aizawl, Mizoram) with the national capital, New Delhi.
