Amazon India has announced a major investment of over ₹2,800 crore to expand its operations and strengthen employee welfare initiatives across the country.

The investment will focus on enhancing the company’s logistics network, including fulfillment centers, sortation hubs, and last-mile delivery systems. This move aims to make deliveries faster, safer, and more reliable, especially in smaller cities and semi-urban regions.

The company stated that this funding is part of its long-term commitment to invest over $35 billion in India by 2030. The broader strategy includes AI-driven digital transformation, export growth, and large-scale job creation.

Amazon also plans to expand its quick commerce service “Amazon Now” to more cities, tapping into the growing demand for faster deliveries.

In terms of employee welfare, the company has launched several initiatives. Under “Project Ashray,” Amazon will increase air-conditioned rest centers for delivery associates, equipped with basic amenities such as seating, drinking water, clean restrooms, and first-aid facilities.

Additionally, healthcare services for truck drivers will be enhanced through free medical camps and wellness programs focusing on mental and physical health.

Through its “Samriddhi” initiative, Amazon aims to connect workers with government welfare schemes like e-Shram cards, health insurance, pension plans, and educational support. Over 2 lakh individuals are expected to benefit.

The company will also support education through scholarships under the “Pratidhi” program for employees’ children from Class 3 to 12, including children with disabilities.

On the technology front, Amazon will leverage AI and machine learning to optimize delivery routes, improve driver safety, and enhance operational efficiency.

This investment is expected to significantly boost India’s e-commerce ecosystem while improving workforce conditions and delivery infrastructure.
