Pakistan–Afghanistan Conflict:
Tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan has escalated sharply after Pakistan allegedly carried out a midnight airstrike in Afghanistan’s Khost province, killing 10 civilians, including nine children and one woman, according to the Taliban administration.

Airstrike Targets Civilian Home

Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid confirmed that the airstrike struck the house of Wilayat Khan in the Garebzwal district, destroying the entire residence.
He stated that among the dead were 5 boys and 4 girls, all minors.

Mujahid further alleged that Pakistan also conducted strikes in Kunar and Paktika provinces. Four others were reportedly injured.
Images shared on social media by Taliban officials showed destroyed homes, rubble, and bodies of children, triggering global concern.

No Official Statement From Pakistan

So far, Pakistan’s military and foreign ministry have not issued any formal response to the allegations.

The airstrike comes just one day after a suicide attack in Pakistan’s Peshawar, in which three paramilitary soldiers were killed. Pakistani authorities held “Afghanistan-based militants” responsible, which may have provoked the latest action.

Rising Tensions Between Neighboring Nations

Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have been deteriorating over the past month.
In October, a border clash between troops from both countries resulted in multiple casualties.

This is considered the most serious conflict since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan in 2021.

Failed Ceasefire Efforts

A ceasefire agreement—mediated by Turkey—was attempted earlier, but it collapsed soon after Afghanistan withdrew from the talks.
Pakistan demanded stricter action against militant groups operating from Afghan soil, leading to a breakdown in communication.

Fear and Uncertainty Among Civilians

Authorities in Khost reported that injured victims are in stable condition but expressed concern over safety and rising instability along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border.

Military analysts warn that the latest strike could further intensify cross-border hostilities, raising fears of a prolonged conflict in the region.
