Additional Wardens to Ease Traffic Congestion at Hinjawadi IT Park
Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar issues directives to the traffic department

Pending development projects expedited during review meeting
Pimpri-Chinchwad | To resolve traffic congestion at entry and exit points of Hinjawadi IT Park, which connects Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, surrounding rural areas, and the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar has directed the traffic police department to request additional wardens as needed. The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has been instructed to provide the required manpower.
Following directives from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Dr. Pulkundwar chaired a review meeting today focused on decongesting traffic in and around Hinjawadi IT Park. The meeting was attended by District Collector Jitendra Dudi, PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Yogesh Mhase, and senior officials from MSEDCL, MIDC, PMRDA, District Administration, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and Pune Regional Transport Office.
Recently, under the leadership of BJP MLA Mahesh Landge, a meeting was held at the state assembly in Mumbai with representatives from the IT Forum, various housing society federations, and public officials. During the meeting, a “Single Point Authority” was designated to coordinate and strengthen the infrastructure development in Hinjawadi and surrounding areas. It was also decided that review meetings would be held every 15 days to track progress.
Meanwhile, PMRDA, MIDC, and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) have launched anti-encroachment drives. Obstructions to traffic, including unauthorized constructions and tin sheds, are being removed. Efforts to widen roads will now be accelerated.
Key Directives from the Divisional Commissioner:
-
If administrative work is delayed, officials must prepare an action plan at their level.
-
PMRDA will provide traffic wardens as requested. Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioners must formally submit such requests.
-
If MSEDCL transformers or overhead wires obstruct traffic, they must be relocated.
-
Implement one-way traffic systems at congestion-prone locations, if necessary.
-
Expedite land acquisition processes. Gain the trust of farmers and take possession of land for road widening.
-
PMPL (PMPML) bus stops must be designated at appropriate locations.
Reaction:
“To resolve the congestion in Hinjawadi IT Park, CM Devendra Fadnavis has appointed a Single Point Authority. Coordination between all government departments is crucial. The administration has acted against unauthorized constructions and tin sheds obstructing traffic, which will help widen the roads. Authorities must also provide proper housing to displaced citizens. In addition, land acquisition processes must be sped up. An action plan should be developed to improve basic infrastructure and facilitate pending work under the National Highways Authority.”
– Mahesh Landge, MLA, BJP, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune.
