India Launches Portal to Recover Unclaimed Assets
Massive Relief for Citizens! Government Unveils Unified Platform to Track Forgotten Bank Deposits, Insurance Claims, Shares and Mutual Fund Investments
New Delhi: In a landmark move aimed at strengthening financial transparency and empowering citizens, the Central Government has launched a dedicated online portal that allows individuals to search for and reclaim unclaimed financial assets linked to their names.
Millions of rupees remain unclaimed across India in the form of dormant bank deposits, insurance claims, shares, dividends and mutual fund investments. In many cases, account holders or their family members are unaware that such funds exist. To address this long-standing issue, the Ministry of Finance has introduced a centralized digital platform that brings multiple asset search services under one roof.
According to the government, the initiative is expected to enhance financial awareness, simplify access to financial information and strengthen public trust in the country’s financial ecosystem.

The newly launched portal enables citizens to check various categories of unclaimed assets, including bank deposits, insurance claims, shares, dividends and mutual fund investments. Previously, users had to visit multiple websites to verify such information. The new platform eliminates this complexity by offering a single-point access system.
To verify unclaimed funds, users can visit the official portal and select the relevant asset category. For example, individuals searching for unclaimed mutual fund investments must enter their PAN number and registered mobile number. After OTP verification, the relevant details can be accessed. Similarly, insurance claim verification requires a PAN number along with a registered mobile number or email address.
The Ministry of Finance stated that the initiative forms part of the nationwide “Your Money, Your Right” campaign, which aims to help citizens recover their rightful financial assets. The campaign is being implemented in collaboration with financial regulators, banks and other key institutions.
Speaking at the launch event, M. Nagaraju, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services, emphasized the significance of the platform.
“By providing multiple search facilities on a single platform, citizens will receive significant relief, and the process of reclaiming their rightful financial assets will become much easier.”
Government officials believe the portal will play a crucial role in building a more transparent, accessible and citizen-centric financial system. The platform is expected to help millions of individuals identify and recover funds that may have remained unnoticed for years.
Experts suggest that citizens should immediately verify whether any unclaimed assets are registered under their name or that of their family members, as substantial amounts of money could be waiting to be recovered.
