A tree plantation initiative organized today at Pimple Nilakh on the occasion of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Hon. Devendra Fadnavis‘ birthday was successfully carried out in a spirited and community-driven atmosphere. The event, held from 7 AM to 9 AM, saw participation from citizens of various age groups, volunteers, environmental enthusiasts, youth, and students.
A Vision Rooted in Social Responsibility
The successful organization of this initiative stemmed from a deep sense of social responsibility and commitment to nature conservation. The initiative was conceptualized by animal protector and social worker Vijusheth Jagtap, under the inspiration of Chinchwad MLA Hon. Shankarbhau Jagtap. The program was jointly conducted by the Ranjit Aba Kalate Foundation and Pimpalvan Vruksha Sanvardhan Group.
Planting of Eco-Friendly Native Species
Various native and environmentally beneficial trees were planted at the site. These trees will be maintained over the coming year by volunteers from the Pimpalvan Tree Conservation Group. The initiative focused not only on planting trees but ensuring their long-term care and protection.

The Need for Environmental Protection
In today’s era of rapid urbanization, the number of trees is declining at an alarming rate. This leads to increased heat, air and water pollution, and a significant loss of biodiversity. In this context, tree plantation has become more than a symbolic event—it is now a shared social responsibility. Trees are not just aesthetic additions or sources of shade; they absorb carbon dioxide, release oxygen, raise groundwater levels, and help stabilize the climate.
Mass Public Participation with Purpose
Participants in the program pledged not only to plant trees but also to nurture and protect them. Many embraced the motto “One Person, One Tree” and committed to planting trees in their neighborhoods or homes.
The active involvement of local women’s self-help groups, senior citizens, students, and youth was particularly noteworthy. The event also featured educational displays on environmental conservation, the importance of trees, and guidance on tree care.
Organizers Express Gratitude and Announce Future Plans
At the end of the program, the organizers extended heartfelt thanks to all citizens, volunteers, and supporting organizations. Vijusheth Jagtap announced plans to conduct similar tree plantation drives in additional local areas in the coming months.
“This collective force working toward nature conservation and a greener Maharashtra is sowing the seeds of social transformation,” said MLA Shankarbhau Jagtap.
