Assertive stand on problems, development works, and the issue of religious conversion

The monsoon session of the Maharashtra State Legislature has concluded. The session saw discussions on various issues, including those concerning the Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune regions. BJP MLA Mahesh Landge effectively raised ten significant questions in the Assembly, prompting constructive dialogue. His firm stance was evident on matters such as problems faced by the Hinjawadi IT Park, traffic issues in the Chakan industrial belt, and the Draft Development Plan (DP) for Pimpri-Chinchwad. For the first time in the history of IT Forums and Housing Society Federations, the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister granted an audience to a delegation, prompting the administration to take notice. During the session, MLA Landge made impactful interventions through attention motions, zero-hour questions, and the question hour—demonstrating the “Power of Ten.”

The monsoon session commenced on June 31 at Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai. With weekends off, the proceedings ran for 15 working days. During this period, MLA Landge raised key local concerns in the Assembly:

  • The Draft Development Plan of the municipal corporation

  • Issues in the Hinjawadi IT Park

  • Problems in the Chakan industrial belt

  • Demand to convert leasehold properties into freehold in authority areas

  • Traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad

  • Funding for land acquisition for the Nashik Phata to Khed elevated corridor on the Pune-Nashik highway

  • GST fraud rackets

  • Waiver of property tax for Chikhli housing scheme residents

  • River rejuvenation projects

  • Environmental conservation
He also presented a positive stance on the liquor prohibition bill and strongly represented the concerns of ordinary citizens of Pimpri-Chinchwad before the state government.

Meanwhile, MLA Landge followed up through Forest Minister Ganesh Naik for an NOC from the Forest Department for road and development works in Dudulgaon village. Officials have since surveyed the area. Efforts were also made with the Energy Department to resolve electricity issues in Bhosari and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The Mahavitaran administration approved the Dighi Camp branch, which will now serve the areas of Bhosari, Dighi, and Charholi.

Hinjawadi IT Park – Moving Towards Resolution

Hinjawadi IT Park, an internationally recognized IT hub of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, has long suffered from infrastructural issues and traffic congestion. IT professionals launched the “Unclog Hinjawadi” campaign in protest. They approached MLA Mahesh Landge requesting a meeting with CM Devendra Fadnavis. Landge promptly arranged the meeting and followed up, resulting in instructions being issued to the administration. Action has since begun, with encroachments being removed from Bhumkar Chowk, Maan, and surrounding areas. It is now evident that the Hinjawadi IT Park is on the path to becoming decongested.

Raised Voice for the Sons of the Soil

The Municipal Corporation has published the Draft Development Plan (DP) for Pimpri-Chinchwad, inviting objections and suggestions. Landge demanded that unnecessary reservations should not be included, and no reservations should be made on temple lands or religious places—citing examples such as the Nageshwar Maharaj Temple in Moshi and the Waghjai Mata Temple in Rupinagar. He firmly stated that development should not come at the cost of displacing the local population. Objections and suggestions by the public must be transparently reviewed, and a DP that is inclusive and protects the rights of the local population (sons of the soil) should be finalized.
He also demanded:

  • Converting leasehold properties within the former development authority area (now under the municipal corporation) to freehold

  • Removing red zone demarcations from plots allotted through lottery

  • Handing over dilapidated and unused government buildings to the municipal corporation for redevelopment
Cabinet Minister Uday Samant responded positively to these suggestions.

Committed to God, Nation, and Dharma

Alongside development issues, MLA Mahesh Landge once again emphasized his commitment to God, nation, and dharma during the legislative session. The issue of religious conversion sparked intense debate. Referring to the case of Rutuja Rajge from Sangli—who “gave up her life but not her religion”—Landge demanded the enactment of an anti-conversion law in Maharashtra.
When NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MLAs Jayant Patil and Jitendra Awhad claimed that minority communities were living in fear, Landge responded aggressively:

“Why didn’t you speak when 10-11-year-old girls from our community were assaulted?”
This strong response sparked discussions across Maharashtra.
He also demanded:

  • Legal rights for priests and temple service communities (Gurav, Pujari, Mankari) in temple trust bodies

  • Applying the MCOCA act against Mohammed Rehmani and associates involved in a massive GST fraud racket

  • Protection of cow protectors
Through these positions, MLA Landge firmly asserted his stand on Hindutva in the Assembly.

Reaction:

“We are constantly working on various issues in Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune, especially traffic congestion, environmental protection, river rejuvenation, and improving basic public amenities. During the session, concerned ministers responded positively, and we will continue to follow up under the guidance of CM Devendra Fadnavis.
Development-oriented Hindutva is the ‘line of action’ of my political and social life.”
Mahesh Landge, MLA, BJP, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune.
