With his brilliant hundred, Rohit became the first Indian batter in history to score an ODI century at Lord’s. Before this landmark innings, no Indian batter had reached three figures at the historic venue.
The previous highest ODI score by an Indian at Lord’s belonged to Sourav Ganguly, who had scored 90 runs.
Rohit Overtakes Sachin Tendulkar
Rohit also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become the batter with the most ODI centuries in a single overseas country.
His century against England was his eighth ODI hundred in England, moving him ahead of Sachin Tendulkar, who had recorded seven centuries in the country.
Pakistan great Saeed Anwar, along with South African stars AB de Villiers and Quinton de Kock, also have seven ODI centuries in a single overseas nation.
India’s Oldest ODI Centurion
Rohit added another remarkable achievement by becoming the oldest Indian cricketer to score an ODI century.
He reached the milestone at the age of 39 years and 80 days, eclipsing Sachin Tendulkar’s previous record of 38 years and 327 days.
Interestingly, Sachin’s record had come during the final ODI century of his illustrious career—the hundred that completed his historic tally of 100 international centuries.
