Pimpri-Chinchwad | Representative | In a landmark move set to redefine the urban growth landscape of Pimpri-Chinchwad, MahaVitaran has approved a massive ₹291.52 crore power infrastructure development plan for the rapidly expanding Bhosari Assembly constituency. The ambitious project has been cleared under the Power Distribution Enhancement Program, with the tender process already initiated.

The project is expected to act as a major “booster dose” for the fast-growing residential corridor of Chikhali, Moshi and Charholi, ensuring robust electricity infrastructure for the next decade.

With Pimpri-Chinchwad witnessing explosive growth in residential projects, integrated townships, IT parks, industrial expansion and population influx, MahaVitaran prepared a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) after assessing future electricity demands in depth. The initiative aims to build a modern, reliable and future-oriented power distribution network across the Bhosari constituency.

Under the guidance of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP leader and MLA Mahesh Landge consistently pursued the issue to strengthen MahaVitaran infrastructure in the region. His strong follow-up during the Assembly session and the accelerated focus on power infrastructure development ahead of the Nashik Kumbh Mela significantly contributed to the project gaining momentum.

Currently, the Bhosari division serves more than 4.58 lakh electricity consumers. However, increasing demand has placed immense pressure on the existing system, resulting in overloading, voltage fluctuations and technical disruptions in several areas. Recognizing future challenges, MahaVitaran has rolled out this large-scale modernization initiative.

10 New Substations Planned

The project includes the construction of 10 new substations, 220 kilometers of high-voltage power lines, 150 kilometers of low-voltage lines, 100 new transformers, capacity enhancement of 128 transformers, 105 RMUs and 160 feeder pillars equipped with advanced technology.

The upgraded infrastructure is expected to efficiently cater to the growing residential and industrial electricity demand in Chikhali, Moshi, Charholi, Dighi and MIDC areas. Citizens will benefit from uninterrupted, high-quality and reliable electricity supply, while power outage incidents are expected to reduce significantly.

Additionally, technical faults can be isolated quickly, allowing faster restoration of power supply. The project is also expected to reduce Technical Loss and AT&C Loss, making the overall electricity distribution network far more efficient and sustainable.

Major Step Towards Better Urban Living

Moshi-Chikhali-Charholi is rapidly emerging as Pune’s largest residential growth corridor, with thousands of new homes, educational institutions, hospitals, commercial complexes and industries coming up across the region.

Keeping the next decade in focus, this futuristic power infrastructure project is expected to become the backbone of planned urban development in Bhosari. Experts believe the initiative will not only strengthen electricity supply but also boost investment, industrial growth and overall quality of life for citizens.

“Considering the rapidly growing population, new townships, industries and residential projects in the Bhosari Assembly constituency, building a strong electricity infrastructure for the future had become the need of the hour. MahaVitaran has approved a ₹291 crore development plan and the tender process under the Power Distribution Enhancement Program has also been initiated. This will bring huge relief to the entire Chikhali-Moshi-Charholi belt. Citizens will receive better, uninterrupted and reliable electricity supply, while future industrial and residential growth will gain major momentum. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendraji Fadnavis, we are continuously working to strengthen ‘Future Ready Electricity Infrastructure’ for the Bhosari constituency.”
