Pune IT Firm Vanishes Overnight, 700 Employees Jobless
Salary Delays, Bounced Cheques And Sudden Office Shutdown Trigger Massive Fraud Allegations Against Hinjawadi-Based IT Company
Pune IT company shutdown | Think Technology India has landed in massive controversy after allegedly shutting down its office overnight, leaving more than 700 employees, engineers and interns jobless in Pune’s major IT hub. The shocking incident from Hinjawadi has sparked outrage among affected employees, many of whom claim they have not received salaries for several months.
The company, which was operating from Gera’s Imperium Rise in Hinjawadi Phase-2, reportedly carried out aggressive hiring throughout 2025. Freshers, interns and IT professionals were recruited in large numbers with promises of stable employment and timely payments.
According to employees, interns initially received a monthly stipend of Rs 15,000 on time, helping the company build credibility among young professionals entering the IT industry. However, workers allege that the situation began deteriorating at the beginning of 2026 as salary payments became irregular.
Employees claim salaries stopped arriving on the usual 7th or 8th of every month. When questioned, company CEO Harshal Bhanudas Thackeray allegedly informed staff that an internal audit was underway and assured employees that pending salaries would be cleared between February 25 and 28.

Despite repeated assurances, employees allege the salaries were never credited. Soon after, workers reportedly discovered that the office had suddenly shut down, creating panic and uncertainty among hundreds of staff members.
Several employees have also accused the company of issuing salary cheques that later bounced after being deposited in banks. The financial crisis has reportedly pushed many workers into severe hardship, making it difficult for them to pay house rent, EMIs and daily living expenses.
The matter has now reached Forum of IT Employees (FITE), which has stepped in to support affected workers. FITE president Pawanjeet Mane stated that multiple employees have approached the organisation seeking legal and financial assistance, while complaints have also been filed with the police.
In another serious allegation, employees claimed the company collected Rs 15,000 as a security deposit from workers in the name of providing laptops. Employee representatives described the incident as a major exploitation scandal in Pune’s IT sector.
The issue has reportedly been escalated to the Labour Ministry as demands grow for stricter regulations to prevent exploitation of young IT professionals and fresh graduates in private technology firms.
Police complaints have been registered and further investigation is currently underway. Meanwhile, the company management has not yet issued any official response regarding the allegations.
