New Delhi |  Pakistan is conspiring against India and is taking help from its allies Turkey and Azerbaijan. Evidence of this was found earlier this year in May during ‘Operation Sindhur’. After a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India conducted strikes on terrorist locations in Pakistan. At that time, Turkey and Azerbaijan openly supported Pakistan. Turkey even provided military assistance to Pakistan during the conflict.

Now, to counter this trio, India has started forming a new QUAD, meaning a group of four nations. This QUAD includes India, old ally Greece, Cyprus, and Armenia. All these four countries have some form of hostility with Turkey and Azerbaijan. As a result, this new QUAD has caused worry for Pakistan, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.

Armenia helped India during the Iran-Israel war

According to a report by Greek City Times, India is planning to strengthen its influence in West Asia and is trying to challenge Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. For this, India is aligning with countries that oppose these three nations.

Recently, a war broke out between Iran and Israel. During this time, some Indian citizens were trapped in the region. India sought Armenia’s help to rescue them. Nearly 110 Indian citizens were brought to Armenia through the Nurduz-Agarak border, and from there, they were flown back to India on a special flight. This clearly shows how close India and Armenia have become. Both countries had already agreed to assist each other when needed.

Cyprus supports India

Cyprus is also standing with India. A few days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited West Asia and Eastern Europe, and during that trip, he also visited Cyprus. In Cyprus, PM Modi went to a location from where Turkish-occupied Northern Cyprus is visible. This was seen as a strong message to Turkey. India has supported the defense of Cyprus and announced a strategic partnership. Cyprus may also buy weapons from India, possibly including the BrahMos missile.

Greece – India’s old friend

Greece and India are long-time allies. Their friendship grew even stronger in 2023. In August, PM Modi visited Athens, where both countries signed a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership agreement. This meant both nations agreed to help each other and strengthen military cooperation. PM Modi said, “Greece is India’s gateway to Europe.

Both India and Greece have common enemies in Pakistan and Turkey, so this defense partnership will be beneficial. Now, Indian Navy ships also dock in Greece while patrolling the Mediterranean Sea.

This new alliance and strategy show that India is making strong moves in West Asia and Europe to counter the Pakistan-Turkey-Azerbaijan axis, while building deeper ties with countries that share common geopolitical concerns.
