Pimpri-Chinchwad: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has responded positively to the ‘Pavana Closed Pipeline’ project, which promises to be a boon for the future of this industrial city and guarantees water security. This stalled project is now set to gain significant momentum, thanks to MLA Shankar Jagtap effectively presenting the case regarding Pimpri-Chinchwad’s water planning for the next 30 years and the challenges posed by a growing population. Future decisions will be made only after a positive review of issues concerning the rehabilitation of farmers and their pending demands. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis clarified that a high-level meeting would soon be convened for this purpose. MLA Shankar Jagtap stated that the ‘Pavana Pipeline’ project would be completed with the cooperation and inclusion of the farmers from Maval. A crucial meeting was held on Friday at the Cabinet Hall of the Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai, presided over by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Attendees included Water Resources Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, MP Shrirang Barne, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Anna Bansode, MLAs Mahesh Landge, Uma Khapre, Amit Gorkhe, Sunil Shelke, and former MLA Bala Bhegade. Also present were Pimpri-Chinchwad Mayor Ravi Landge, Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar, Standing Committee Chairman Abhishek Barne, House Leader Prashant Shitole, Leader of Opposition Bhausaheb Bhoir, and BJP City President Shatrughna Kate. Officials in attendance included the Pune Divisional Commissioner, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner, Pune District Collector, the Chief Engineer of the Water Resources Department, and senior officials from the Urban Development, Revenue, and Railway departments, as well as MSRDC, Mahavitaran, PMRDA, and the Municipal Corporation. Thanks to the successful follow-up by MLA Shankar Jagtap, there are now strong indications that a permanent solution to Pimpri-Chinchwad’s water issue is gaining momentum.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that no injustice would be done to the farmers of Maval during the project’s completion. He stated that future decisions would be made only after a positive review of issues such as farmer rehabilitation and their pending demands. He further announced that a high-level meeting would soon be organized for this purpose. The Chief Minister emphasized that a solution would be reached by taking representatives from all relevant institutions and organizations into confidence, ensuring equitable treatment for both the Maval and Pimpri-Chinchwad regions.
