A heated discussion was held in the Legislative Assembly today to find solutions to the increasing traffic congestion in the Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR). MLA Mahesh Landage drew the attention of the state government to the traffic congestion on the Pune-Nashik highway and the land acquisition process in the elevated corridor project. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave a positive response in the House.

MLA Landage said that Pune-Nashik The necessary funds need to be sanctioned to complete the land acquisition for the 61-meter widening of the National Highway (NH-60) from Nashik Phata to Indrayani River. Efforts are underway to start the proposed elevated corridor and connecting road project between Nashik Phata and Khed soon. Also, a single point authority is required for traffic management in the entire PMR area. There is a need to take special initiative to modernize MIDC roads and facilitate traffic in the industrial area. The demand was made in the House that the metro network should be expanded in the entire Pune Metropolitan Region including Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Also, the Central Government and the State Government have announced an elevated corridor for this highway, but the widening work cannot be started due to lack of 100 percent land acquisition. For this, there is a need to complete the land acquisition early with a time-bound planning. Under the leadership of Devabhau, ambitious projects have been undertaken in the Pune Metropolitan Region for sustainable development and a role model of development will be created in this area, which is developing at the fastest pace in the coming time, MLA Landge also believed. Land acquisition funds for important projects will be made available as soon as possible. Some funds will be provided by the Municipal Corporation. Land acquisition will be done through them. Also, a review meeting will be held at the PMRDA and state government levels to make funds available.
